Here are our Criteria for the GreenLeaf Cohousing Site. We invite you to help us look for a site!
● The site needs to have a rural feel to it in a beautiful setting.
o This might mean plenty of trees, quiet (no traffic noise, not in a flight path), ideally naturally dark at night (able to see the moon and stars - weather permitting!), home to small and perhaps medium sized critters.
o If the site is within a town, it needs to be in a quiet area with parks and nature close by.
o The zoning we are looking for is Multifamily residential
● Location in Northern CA:
o Within walking or bike ride distance (or a short drive) from a town that has essential services and amenities such as a good food co-op/urgent care
o Within a 30-minute car ride radius to a hospital
o Safe location: Not at high risk for fires, land/mudslides or tsunamis. Ability to build in a firesafe way.
o Within an area that has reasonable insurance rates.
o Mountains within 1 to 3 hours’ drive
o Decent cell phone reception and internet options (but not within close range of 5G towers)
o If multigenerational, needs to be reasonably close to schools
● Property would have enough space for:
o A large community garden with fertile, non-toxic soil
o 15 to 25 dwellings and community building
● Plenty of sunshine, yearly temperature range between 30º to 85º
